My favorite criticisms so far...
While I realize that most people who take the trouble to tell yo how they feel about your art are going to say something positive. Occasionally, we find those folks bold enough to share what they don't like about something.
Since my homepage is filled with praise (and trust me, I have reams of that stuff...anything with even a whiff of praise goes in the file, baby!), I thought it might be nice to give equal time to the dissenters.
So occasionally I'll drop in with some of my favorite pans. Hope you enjoy them. And please...feel free to add your own fuel to the fire as well!
This one was in print on newstands: 2-star (out of 5) = may struggle to finish

a little too obvious
I felt the faith element and scriptural references were contrived and pasted in
many of the other characters especially the minor ones were simply shadows flitting through the pages
If you enjoy oddball people and apparently insignificant glances into their lives interspersed with random spurts of a faith element then this would be right up your alley
eclectic randomness of style and events or the erratic plotlines that seemed in my mind to have no unifying goal

When I read stuff that's just OK, especially Christian ficiton, I think, "I can probably write better than that." Case in point? "My Name Is Russell Fink" by Michael Snyder
but falls short in the way much Christian fiction does. So worried about throwing in the "somebody get saved" theme that there are basic plot elements that the author brings to the surface, then puts on a shelf, and then brings back out when he needs them.
won't tax your intellect too much. I suspect that since this was his first novel he'll take care of those things as he writes more.
